blue? i never seen blue coolant mabye they do have it who knows, ill assume you didnt open the cap so it looks blue through the tank. That is the overflow tank yea you need to fill it up at least to the minimum mark, the engine get to hot it overflows into that tank when it cools off it drains back into the radiator. just go to walmart to get new stuff, Pestone premix 50/50 would be fine.

thanx a lot, yea i did that, it was not prestone, i assume it does not matter. it was a 50/50 though. and u were right, it looks blue through the resevoir, it is actually greenish i assume. i was just wondering though, ummmm i bought my car at a dealership right and the previous owner, (i dont know him/her) had the rotars broken, and the wheels were more bald than my dad, so i am thinking i dun think he has flushed the coolant. the car has run 68 000 km. so would it matter if i just left it and flushed it around 85000.?? i hope thats cool. thanx a lot.

asome, that's totally untrue. Some cars do not even come with an overflow. Please do not answer questions with answers you do not know to be fact.

As long as the radiator stays full, it doesn't matter if the overflow is full or empty.

what is untrue about that. the coolant heats up and flows to the overflow tank,
When the cooling system cools down, a vacuum is formed inside the system and another valve inside the radiator cap opens allowing coolant to flow in from the overflow tank. This keeps air that can cause corrosion inside the cooling system out and insures the cooling system is always filled to maximum capacity.

what's untrue about it is that there doesn't have to be any coolant in the reservoir at any time given that the radiator is full at all times.

I drove for 6 months without any fluid in the coolant just to see if the radiator was ever not full....warm or cold it was always full, and the reservoir never saw a drop.

well yeah cause it dont leak or anything like that, i understand there doesnt have to be any in the overflow, but thats not to say that his car will never overheat/leak and need that extra coolant, prolly never will but id rather be safe than sorry, i dont remember to look under my car everytime i get in to see if there is a leak or anything and he prolly dont neither. I have never had to refil my radiatior either , i have found this car to be very realiable also but no car is perfect.
