intake help ASAP!!

ok im gonna be buying this for somone as an xmas gift so i need to know soon so i can order it. i called up hotshot today to check availbilyt on the CAI for my 2004 1.8 and they said that it WONT fit. i told them that it should fit 2000+ 1.8's but they said it will only go 00-03 because there was a problem the MAF sensor location on the 04's that wont allow the intake to work properly and it could cause damage if i used it. anyone know the validity of this because i dont wanna wreck someones car if i buy it for them? i read the tuner guide about all 2000+ engine mods should work but i just wanted to clarify after what these people told me. thanks alot

i belive on the 04 the housing that the sensor sits in is different instead of the 4 holes with bolts holding the maf housing like the previous versions to the intake it is just a plastic/rubber tube with screw clamps. The sensor it self is exactly the same im pretty sure so you might be able to find a 00-03 housing for it and just swap the sensor into the new housing. be aware to get the the sensor out of the housing you will need a special tamper proff hex head. Or the adapter plate that comes with the hotshot might be able to be modified to fit inside the housing, thats a big mabye though. Also you could just go to a hardware store or something and get a small peice of piping that is about the same size as that housing and slip it on there like that, it wont matter anyway cause it will be covered up by a coupler. Anyway with a just a little bit of brain power and a pipe cutter you could get it to work with not much difficulty i would think.
