O2 Sensor Problem

Hi all - I am new to this forum!

I have a 2000 Nissan Sentra and the check engine light came on about 6 months ago. I had the codes read and it came up 02 sensor. Since it wasn't having any troubles I didn't buy it at the time.

Now my car needs an inspection so I have to get it fixed. I took it to AutoZone and the code read 0171. 02 sensor before the catalytic converter left hand drivers side. So I bought the sensor for 95.99 and put it on. It's light blue (Bank 1). The check engine light didn't go out.

I took my car back to AutoZone to read the codes again and now it is reading codes 0171 and 0174 (the other front 02 sensor).

The guy said that it could be because one is bad and even though the other one is new it would cause both to malfunction.

I called the Nissan dealership and they said not necessarily. Does anyone have any suggestions or comments? I can use any help if you know of anything. I just need to get my car fixed so my engine light can go out!!

you need to buy a sensor from the dealer new...as those are the only ones found to work so far.
