We have a 2002 Sentra with the 1.8L engine. It just shut off when backing up and now won't restart. There is no spark and no injector pulse. There is also no communication with the ECM. When we turn the key the following happens: the SES light flickers and the fuel pump relay clicks for a few seconds, then both stop. We've checked all fuses - none blown. Any help???
Replaced the sensor, still no injector pulse. Both crank and cam sensor are outputting a signal, but wherever that signal goes (ECM) it's not making it's way to the injectors or the plugs (no spark). HELP!

I think we may have related problems and I hope you tell me what you find out. I took my (QG18DE) 2001 Sentra GXE in to diagnose a DTC 0300 Cylinder Misfire. I changed my plugs and then it started dying as soon as I hit the freeway. Cylinder #2 has no spark. Mechanic has tried to replace unbroken crank and cam sensors, but they are fine. Misdiagnosed a bad fuel pump/screen last week. No he says my ECM must be replaced. hmm? My car has been there two weeks and so far he wants 200.00 for diagnostics, but it still doesn't run.
We took the Sentra to two different mechanics, and then back to the dealership. The problem turned out to be a bad ECM.
The first mechanic billed us for taking apart the fuel system and putting it back together. :dumbass: He changed the crank and cam sensors, but they were fine. He sadi that he swapped out the ECM, but that wasn't the problem.
3 weeks later, they asked us to tow it away from their shop.
My friend looked at it for another week, but couldn't figure out the problem.
So prior to this incident, we had a belt break on the highway and the dealership's invoice noted that they did something to the ECM that was suppose to fix a recall notice.
I made a complaint to Nissan because this is the third time it has stopped running while I was on the freeway. Once the battery mysteriously died without any forewarning.
i had the same problem when i only had my 02 sentra gxe for like 3 months. i was pissed cuz i had just got the car and wouldnt start!!! i had it towed directly to the dealership and at no charge they changed the ECM due to a recall that i had known nothing about.
Hey all...I dunno where to post new threads...so I might as well add to this one...it's about the recalls...I have a 2002 Sentra GXE 1.8.....What are the recalls that are out there for this car....From what I have read, there are some...Thanks Roy...GO GATORS!!!!!
UPDATE ON 2002 SENTRA..AFTER I SAT ON THE ROAD SIDE FOR 2 HOURS WAITING ON A TOW TRUCK...ON THE 28TH..I GOT A CALL TODAY..THE 29TH, AND THEY TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR...GUY SAID PROBABLY THE COMPUTER...NOW I GET TO HAVE IT TOWED TO NISSAN THEMSELVES...SHOULD HAVE DONE THAT TO START WITH....HOPEFULLY IT IS A RECALL ISSUE...TILL NEXT TIME
like I said, ask them to check the history of the car and see if the RECALLS have been done. Be proactive, don't come here and whine about it if you're not doing anything!
