hey guys whats good? anyway i have a 02 GXE and every morning wether it's hot/damp/muggy my belts and pulleys always making squeking sounds it's very very FN annoyying and everytime i bring it to the dealer it doesnt do it and i look like an idiot and then i say "well it does it when i do it" but anyone else had this problem with there 1.8?................help
Like Mike said, the belts need a little tightening, or maybe your belt tensioner needs replacment...but since your noise is off and on, I'd say Mike suggestion is spot on.
And yes, I have gone through 2-3 belt tensioners, and 4-5 belt changes...
mine does it also at a cold-start.
i bought a can of belt-dressing at my local autozone.
it helps a little. withOUT it, the car would squeak for a few miles.
but if i spray the belt after the car has has been started (to get the belts turning) and i spray it, it only lasts a mile or 2.

I was told last night that I need a new belt tensioner. Both AutoZone & Kragen websites show that nothing is available for my car. Is this something that I have to order as OEM?

Nah, forget that "belt dressing" stuff, that stuff is Garbage; just makes the belts Slip More!
All that greasy gunk builds up and causes your belts to slip.
What your belts need is a good Cleaning.
Remove all your belts; clean them and the pulleys to get all the greasy crud off. Any kind of degreaser works well; paint thinner, kerosene, I've used gasoline in a pinch! All of these dissolve away grease and road grime real quick and get those pulleys Squeaky Clean; squeaky like after you wash a dish real good.
After getting the belts clean, you'll probably wanna rinse 'em good with water/detergent so the degreaser doesn't stay on and deteriorate the rubber.
TRUST ME... after this Cleaning your belt noises WILL go Away!
*Note: Now if the noise was caused by bad bearings... maybe in tensioner, A/C compressor, alternator... then that's a different story.
In any case, you'll have clean belts and pulleys.
Shake up that can of "belt dressing" and Shoot it, at least you'll get entertainment value out of it; that stuff sucks @$$.
Happy tuning,

i had the same problem. It would get we outside and the squeeking would make the car sound like a shit box. I took it to nissan service center 3 times before those grease monkeys figured out that my belts needed some tightening. Thats all it is. If they tell you its something else their trying to rip you off. Just get the belts tightened.
