Will a QG18 make a diff?

Hi,

Currently driving a 01 sunny, with the QG16 engine. And am thinking whether, fitting in a Qg18 will make a significant diff? Another thing is, will the QG16 head fit to the QG18 block? And will skimming the head give me a higher compression? Pls advise.

Thanks
Blackrex

significant? no. the QG series heads have HORRIBLE flow.............using any kind of work on the head other than SERIOUS port/polish/valve jobs would be worthless and somewhat dangerous.

If you want power, don't use the QG series engines. Otherwise, turbo your QG16, but using one head on another is just a bad, bad idea.

Hi Chimmike,
So skimming the head and swapping to a QG18 won't make a significant diff? Only significant diff is to turbo charge it? Or can you advise me, wat are some of the mods that I can proceed to gain to at least some diff in the QG16, without force induction? This car was previously turbo charge, and I have removed it, due to the stringent laws over here. Hope, you could advise me on some tips.

Thanks,
Blackrex

milling the head might give 1-2hp, it won't even be noticeable.

a header, intake, and exhaust will make a decent difference, but you'll get tired of that fast. I don't know where you can get parts for that engine over there.........it might take some searching.
