our QG18DE is identical to yours. The mods have been tried...I've used all of them except the sun auto hyper voltage system........and many others have these mods. They work well, but as I say, the best bang for the buck is defnitely boost on the qg18de.

You mean a turbo kit? You're the guy that made/designed them aren't you? How much do they go for at the moment? (US$) Sent any overseas to get a rough idea on shipping? and finally, what sort of extra's do you need after you get the kit? (better clutch? port reinforcing? etc)

the basic kit goes for $2850 US......here's the link to the page on my website where everything is explained. http://www.mdhall.com/about1.html2.html

I shipped a kit to the UK....it's expensive, but, not too bad I guess. Customs is more of a pain than anything else.

Hrmm. Would end up being like, $6000-7000 (AUS) for kit + stage 1. Excluding shipping. And people here constantly tell me that it's cheaper than finding an SR20DE to drop in. I find that hard to believe.

I know which option i like better. The turbo one. But only up to 180whp? What would you have to do to the engine to safely allow it to take a bigger turbocharger and an intercooler and the boost controller to take it above the 200-220whp?

above that power you need forged internals and better fuel management. That's big money. The T3 that comes in the kit can make over 220whp easily. You can make up to 210whp fairly safely with the basic kit + stage 1 upgrade.

Really? cool. But if the T3 can make over 220 and the engine can only safely handle up to around 220 before it starts to crack heads and stuff, don't you have to be careful or can you limit it with something like a boost controller?
(sorry, getting in over my head now)

Anyway, i'm more of a torque man myself. After all, not too many places you can use the 220whp to its full. I suppose this'd have the ability to really knock you back into your seat, but how's she go in FWD?

it WENT! My dyno numbers at 10psi were 191whp and 195 tq!!!!!! It feels good, let me tell you.

As for controlling boost, the wastegate is set at 7psi on the basic kit. the stage 1 upgrade includes a manual boost controller (very reliable and safe) so after you start controlling boost yourself, you just have to keep a level head!

haha, believe me, with fuel prices high like they are, it's easy to keep a level head and boost low.

Know an easy way to convert AUS$/L to US$/gallon to compare prices?

A couple of weeks ago i paid 114.9c/L for Shell Optimax. Not sure if you have it over there or not, but it's a higher octane premium fuel.
