Are the 03/04 Sentra GXE's any good?

Hi guys/gals,

I'm currently looking at car's for my girlfriend, and she wants something economical and good for general dailey driving. The first car I thought of was the Nissan Sentra. I've always found them to be reliable, good looking, and not expensive at all. Althought, I've never driven/ridden in a newer one, like the 2003/2004's. I've only heard from word of mouth that they are good reliable cars. I'm wondering if these car's would be good for my gf. She drives to the university of arizona dailey, and to work, and thats about 20-30 miles each day. She currently has a 97' Cavaleir and its dying on her and we want to get rid of it. So basically, are these newer 2003/2004 Sentras good for dailey commuting? Please give me some pro's and con's and even alternatives, as we are still looking at other options. Thanks.

We are going to go and test drive one today. We want a 5spd but all I can find are AT's. Either or, we're gonna see if she likes the way it drives/feels. I myself am a mazda fan, hence the p5 on my name. I drive a 02' Protege5. I wanted her to look into the new Mazda 3's, but their more money then we want to pay right now. I've found tons of 02 to 04 Sentra's ranging from $9k to $13k that have 20k miles or less. The new Mazda 3's are running $15k for the base model, and up to $17k for the Mazda 3 Hatchback, which is fully loaded. I'd rather her have the Sentra since she plans on getting a better car after college. Btw, check out www.mazsports.com sometime. We are a bunch of mazda nuts in Arizona.
