bunch of questions

Ok, ive finally decided (after a year and a half) that Im going to keep my 02 gxe and now spend 20+ grand on a new car. So this means im going to start putting some money into the little POS to try and make it less crappy.

Im gonna throw in a stereo system, tint the windows, get better tires (the factory ones suck and give me no traction in the rain), and do a little engine work.

Im thinking about getting the HS CAI, HS Header, and maybe a short throw shifter and pulley.

Now for the questions. Assuming Im a good driver (i have a 5-speed), what kind of 1/4 times should I expect with a cai, header, and pulley? Also how hard is it to install the header? Does it bolt on or weld? Will i need any other parts to get it to fit?

My other question is what the best site to order parts is, should I order directly from Hot shot or can i get a better deal else where? Let me know. Thanks.

so far the best prices ive seen are on 2kracing.com. They have the intake for 199 and the header for 419.

you're not going to want stock exhaust with the header. It will sound like hell, and you won't get the most gains out of the header. Intake, header, exhaust, pulley will probably show low 16s.....if the conditions are absolutely right, the car is gutted, has no gas, and you weigh 50lbs, have a 20mph tailwind, you might get high 15s. Try www.ptuning.com for the header/intake. Also for the pulley. Get a decent exhaust, whether it be custom crush bent 2" or aftermarket, and make sure you get the biggest resonator you can fit in there. Trust me on this one.

Oh, and for those who say go 2.25", you will lose low end power, and it's noticeable. Stick with 2", especially since you don't plan to use any nitrous.

theres no way im getting a new exhaust tip or muffler if thats what youre saying. I could replace the pipes back to the muffler but I do not want that ricer sound.

edit: I also noticed that the site you suggested had higher prices than that 2kracing.com site I listed above.

I'm telling you, like I said before, with a header and stock muffler, you WILL get a horrible sounding setup. That's a guarantee. If you invest in new piping, a BIG magnaflow resonator, and a good magnalflow muffler, you shouldn't have that problem.

it will sound like shit. a stock muffler with a header will sound like shit. This being said for the 3rd time. And it won't be any quieter most likely, as the only real thing that controls loudness is the resonator.

dude, when you were there he ran a 10.6, which he even said. He sure as hell hasn't run a 10.4. That's like a high 15 run. Not possible on a QG with just an intake. Or hell, even a fully bolted QG. That's a fact.
