gas meter?

Lets say my meter is at half a tank. I turn it off and then get back in an hr later or so, i start it and the meter either went up or down. has that happened to anyone else, cuz i dont want my gas to be guessed and inconsistent when driving with low gas. I drove 20 miles when the gas light was on, i just wanna know if that is normal or what(for the meter to move back and forth)

The best thing you could do is fill up your tank. You know what the total capacity of your gas tank is from your manual. The next step is to drive till you get to a 3/4 of a tank on your guage and fill up again ... youll see that you most likely havent used a quarter of your capacity... just a quarter of your guage. Do the same for a half tank(guage) and then again for 1/4th left. If you drive consistantly youll be able to figure out how much is left in your tank when you have only a "quarter" of the tank left. Calculate your mpg and how much gas you REALLY have left and then youll know. Ive got an 03 Spec V and when my gas gets down under the 1/4 line on my guage it goes up and down and what not but i also keep track of my mpg... its consistant so I also know that ive got a range of about 230 miles before i worry about it. reset the trip odometer on the fillup and youll always know.
