Well, it's about time someone actually opened this to conversation. I fully understand that NO ONE has pushed our little engine to great heights, except for the one lucky man who is driving around a turbo QG, but even that isn't a "great height of performance". What I am asking is: what are the greatest numbers we can expect from our little engine? What are the chances that manufacturers of aftermarket parts are going to catch on to our QG and make it fast? In conclusion, what is the performance future of an economy-based 1.8L Nissan engine? Any insights and thoughts are welcome. Thanks in advance.
Probably the best we'll see from a stock bottom end would be 220-240whp.........that's just pure speculation. Don't expect any more aftermarket for the QG. There's just simply not enough demand.
I would wait about 5-10 years, by then, the QG will have been around a while, and enough teenagers with money to burn will have bought them and want to rice them out......full bolt ons........maybe in 2 years cams will come out.................
well, nitrous doesn't always mean a fast daily driver, its not like you can juice from light to light.
if you're even considering turbocharging, don't waste the money on bolt ons. Otherwise, bolt ons make for a fun little car (not fast, maybe a little quick, but more or less fun compared to stock)
You want to open up the market for our engine??!! Here is what you have to do then:
1. Buy a used QG18DE engine from forced induction or someone that has an extra one laying around.
2. Take the engine apart and remove the Pistons w/rings, and the Arms form the the crank
3. Talk to CE, ARIAS or similar companies until you get a good response from one that is willing to proto type the form for you.
3a. This is going to cost you some because you would be the first.
3b. It will be cheaper for the rest of us once production model is available and you will be our hero
4. After that, do the same thing with the cams and the bottom of the block to have new cams prototyped and to have cylinder sleeves prototyped.
5. By doing this you just opened the grounds for the QG18DE to be on its way to being equivalent in power and performance as the Honda/Acura B18c5 series engines.
6. I would have done this, but i just lost my job and now do not have the money to be putting into such a project. This was my ultimate goal.
7. This is how things get done.
8. After all this, install one of Mike's turbo kits and you will have one hell of a sentra!!
How long did it take the ga16de to get substantial aftermarket recognition? That amount of time is probably what the qg18de will need to wait until it gets some more aftermarket support as well, however, the se-r model might dampen the amount of support seen as those who want to tune or race will buy the se-r model. If Nissan develops a new engine for the supposed sentra facelift in a year or two you can say goodbye to any potential aftermarket support at all.

lets try to talk with big Dealers like Greddy...
haha, don't be serious. There's not nearly enough market for them to make even a kit for the Spec V....so there's no way in hell they'll make one for our engine.
it's all about profits man, so before you come up with ideas like that, think about business. Besides, we've already thought of those ideas.
