Unhappy Heat isn't working. I'm freezing! Helllppp!

Two weeks ago I flushed my radiator and filled with new coolant for the winter, and replaced my thermostat while I was at it since I had a CEL saying it was reading the coolant level as "too cool." So everything worked fine for a few days, now I have no working heat at all. Sometimes the temp gague will go all the way to hot, but then goes right back down. It smells really sweet with coolant when this happens, but the heat doesn't work. I'm at a loss on what to do, i'm a broke college student who can't pay a high repair bill. I'm going to try and flush the system and "burp" the system but after things i've read, it still wont fix it. It might be worth thw shot though, I can't take not having heat much longer. Any of you guys know the issue here and/or how to fix it?

If you replaced the thermostat with an aftermarket unit, then that could cause your problem. Many aftermarket thermostats are pure junk. Go with a Nissan OEM unit; may cost more but the quality is excellent.

If your cooling system has an air bleeder screw, crack it open to get any air pocket out. Jacking up the front of the car also helps.
