my dad told me that he had white smoke coming from underneath the hood with a strong smell. no codes,no overheating. Headgasket was replaced 25k miles ago. I was wondering where should I look at to check for the source of the problem? He told me it was coming from the back of the engine. oil was changed four months ago and it is still full he says. any tips to look?
well i would first say to make sure there are no leaks in your coolant hoses. what kind of bad smell? you can usually tell if the smell is oil or coolant. maybe they spilled some oil when you changed it last and it's just burning off? is this still going on? or was it a one time thing?
it's an exhaust type of smell coming from the back of the engine. it's white smoke. it's at start up and shut off. oil was changed four months ago. oil is still full on dipstick.
four months ago? someone needs to get on the ball
i'd probably just check it out back there when you're changing the oil. turn the car on and see where it's coming from. sounds like it might just be a small leak somewhere

Check the exhaust manifold nuts to make sure they are tight; just don't apply any gorilla action with the wrench or else you can break the stud off. You may have to end up replacing the exhaust manifold gasket if all the nuts are tight.
