SE-R Engine swap

Ok so here's the deal I have an automatic 2001 Nissan sentra GXE and I am seriously looking for more power. The problem is that they do not make much for a 01 Gxe performance wise. So far I have a CAI and a cat back exaust. So I was thinking about swaping the engine for an Ser engine because it would open up my world to performance parts and turbos and stuff. Can it be done? Would I need a new transmission or other things? I love my car it's just not fast enough. please help.

like, the se-r with the 2.5 or the se-r from the b14 or b15 with the 2.0? swapping the 2.5 wouldn't be a good idea. too much work and won't get much out of it. if you're going to do a swap, might as well do the sr20de (maybe t). TONS more performance options for you

I was looking to replace with the 2.5 SER engine. You don't think it would be worth it?

not at all. the 2.5 isn't exactly a bullet proof motor. it's your call though. just do your research. honestly with the cost, you would probably be better off selling your car and getting the one you want, lol

i mean don't not do it just cause i said, i was just giving my opinion. i know others have the same. just look around a little. i don't know of anyone that's put a 2.5 into their b15, but i do know of a guy that put the 2.5 into his b14. just seems like there's so much more you can do with the sr20 in there. or maybe even a vq would be nice. my point is, there are better motors out there for what you want to do. if you're gonna do it, might as well do it right the first time!

the se-r would fit but you may need a new tranny. as for performance mods, if your gxe is a qg18de which i think it is then you just havnt been looking hard enough. you can get just as many parts for your qg18 than you can for a sr20. and ths way you dont need an expensive engine swap. if you can afford a swap then buy an older se-r. as for a turbo, there arent any bolt on kits buit if you cusomize your own its very duable.

at the top page of these forums is a mods list and a how to turbo your car. also if you go to this link then you can find what companies make parts specially for your b15.

Dont do it....

Swapping out for the 2.5L engine wouldnt be a good idea. They probably a couple thousand to buy, plus all the work needed. I would say if your set on that engine, then sell your car. I have a 2000 SE with a SR20 engine. This swap cost less and is a more "bolt-on affair" but my advice to you is dont spend your money on QG18 upgrades which will net you hardly any HP. Sell the car if your looking for speed. Thats all there is too it. A GXE with 2k in upgrades will still be slow at the end of the day. Thats all there is to it.
