How hard is it to change the oil?

My girlfriend is way overdue on her oil changed, so I told her we can do it this week to save some money in the shop. How hard is it to change the oil on the 1.8 engines. I know the draining part is easy but is accessing the oil filter a job in itself or is it pretty simple. I use Mobil 1 full synthetic in my truck and love it so I'm thinking thats what I'll put in hers, but what oil do you guys recommend? Also is there a certain brand of oil filter you recommend to use as well? Thanks for all your help.

i don't really think synthetic is necessary. if the car isn't heavily modded and you're changing oil when you should, it's just a waste of money IMO.
oil changes are cake. the filter is easy to access. just use the oem nissan filter

I would take it down to Jiffy Lube but she wants to know how to do it herself. I'll put it up in the air tomorrow and take a look to see if its worth it lol.

jiffy lube has a very bad rep, i wouldn't take it there if you paid me. the only place i'd take it to for an oil change is nissan

Changing oil has the same basic steps for every vehicle. Just different locations for things and different amounts of oil. Just remember to put oil back in it
