P10171 System too lean bank 1

I am getting a P0171 sestem too lean message when doing a reading on the car. The mechanic could not figure out how to fix.
It runs really rough and hesitates to accelerate when cold and now has started to lose power at higher speeds.
It has also started to shift funny but I think it may be due to the lost power from the engine.
Mechanic has told me to take it to a dealer to figure it out.
Car has 175,000 km on it and is a 2001 GXE.

Does anyone have anysuggestions?

Thanks

Id say check your injectors. first thing i would do is use a test light at the injector harness to make sure your getting voltage at the injectors, if all four are getting power, then id take out the rail and injectors to inspect them, or you could check and see if your fuel system has proper pressure. maybe your pump is weak. sorry but at that many miles it could be alot of stuff. good luck

I took it to the dealer who informed me I needed a new mass air flow sensor.
$600 cdn later the problem is fixed and car runs fine.
