Follow up to "cant go over 4,500 rpm"

So pep-boys has told me my mass air flow censor is no longer working, so kragen told me $240, nissan told me $475 for a new MAF. Im going to call some local recking yards in the morning. Does anyone know around how much a MAF censor should go for at a junk yard?

And lastly, i was wondering if anyone has ever attempted to put a SE-R (2.5L) MAF censor into a GXE, to improve performance?()i know this will hurt my mpg. This is mostly hypothetical because if i did this it wouldent pass smog...or would it?

Well if anyone has anything to say about any of this i'd love to hear it, thanks in advance.
