Qg18de

Hi, Im looking at buying a uk N16 with QG18DE engine, it seems very simlar to the B15.

Im trying to find out little more about the car, I have read http://www.nissanperformancemag.com/...rojectqg18.php which iis an interesting article but I wanted to find out a little more from you guys as the N16 is dwarfed by the SR20DE powered N15 in the uk.

The uk car comes with 113hp @ 5600rpm and 117lb/ft @ 2800rpm giving a 0-60mph (100km) time of 11seconds in a car weighing 1200kg. It seems that the B15 has more power higher in the rev range and more torque lower in the rev range, as its the same engine i think a chip might come in handy

Im not sure of the B15s performance figures, but on paper the N16 seems quite off the mark, is this the case with the B15? Is it acutally a slow car? I have driven cars before that have been slow on paper but actually quick in normal driving and other cars that have good acceleration because they have a high 2nd gear to get to 60 in less shifts - making real driving slower.

we don't get to 60 in 2nd. We do however have a lot of available torque.....so around town we can be pretty quick.

If you can find someone who makes a chip, go for it.......but as for the states....nissan uses ECUs that can't use chips...........and there is no ecu for the B15 yet.

As we're rated stock here..........126hp@2000rpm, 129lb-ft@2400rpm. From what I hear, our torque curve is pretty good all the way up from there.

Although one may think that would be the case, Yes our engine does start with alot of torque that quickly changes as the torque curve take a steep dive at around 4k -5k RPM and then slowly starts going down steadily ending at about 73-75LBs of Torque at about our 6500 RPM limit.

StreetRacer, let us know if there are any Developments for the Qg18de in the UK!!!

Automatics can get up to 68 in 2nd gear. It's in the manual.
