2002 sentra gxe

Hey whats up guys this is my first post and i wanted to start things off with a few questions. I drive a 2002 sentra gxe 1.8L. Im thinkin about havin fun with it since i dont feel like buyin a new car and id get ripped off with trade in value. I was wondering if doind the standard intake, exhauast, header would really be worth it with this car. Since its a stick i do pretty well with the occasional street race, I ran up against an se-r (non spec v) which was an automatic and we were dead even til third gear which was when he pulled away. Ive read that the torque curve peaks out at right about 22-2400 rpms and its obvious with my pretty decent jumps off the line and lack of high end power. If i do decide to do some engine mods what would be a good place to start, what would give me the best bang for the buck, and is it worth voiding my 3yr 36000 mile warranty? Ive heard these things are mad reliable and im not sure it would even have any problems within that time anyway. In terms of budget I dont really care how much i spend but i wanna stay away from turbo/superchargers and nos. My friends were tellin me that a port and pollish head would make a noticable difference but i dont know enough about that yet. Let me know what you guys think.

in terms of mods, intake/header/exhaust should net you some decent gains. these should run you between 600 and 1k.
my advice? stay away from street racing. yeah we have some decent low end power, but the top end really isn't there.

I agree the I/H/E will be a nice setup for the QG18DE, as for the port and polish if you are staying all motor as you have stated then i would recommend that after you have done most if not all "bolt-on's". As for voiding warranty you will, with most dealerships, void the warranty, although there are laws preventing the voiding of a warranty just because aftermarket products are present, the part must be creating the problem for them to refuse. As for me I beat on mine bad when I first got it I mean BAD, I did terrible things to the engine like not changing the oil anywhere near 3000 more like 11,000 miles (I know, I know) anyways she runs great I have learned a ton and have much more respect for my car and if that doesnt scream reliable tell me what does. Hell I am pushing 40,000 and NO ENGINE PROBLEMS. eheh.

PS. 36000 miles comes faster then you think.

thanks for the input guys and yeah ive noticed the lack of high end. Its actually not too bad until 4th gear but then i literally have nothing, I sometimes use 3rd as my passing gear on the highway becuase 4th wont get me goin at all. I think ill shop around for a decent intake and header, and definately a strut bar, love that handling, im gonna stay away from exhaust til the very end cuz i dont wanna sound like a little rice rocket when i have NOTHING to back it up.
