How to Turn off "Service Engine Soon" light?

Currently, my sentra gxe '00 is indicating code P0171 "service engine soon". Say, once I fix it myself, how can I turn off the indicator? Is there any combination to do that? or I have to bring the car to dealer?
I heard Honda Accord has a way to turn off the light by ourself.

Thanks,
KD

You can try resetting the ECU, by disconnecting one of the battery termanals. For about 10 mins. The put it back on and it should reset the CEL. But if it doesnt we might have to think of soemthing else.

P0171 is for "bank 1 lean", try a search for the code, lots of answers out there. Once the problem is corrected, you can either do what's in one of the previous posts and unhook the battery, or you can take your car to a auto parts store that reads codes and they can clear it out for you.

SES light ON (due to P0171) and now car is stalling.

Thanks,
unfortunately, disconnecting the terminal din't do the trick. So, I went to the mechanic and he managed to turn off the SES light. Though, he could not fix the "lean engine" (P0171) problem. Now, my car doesn't show SES light, but it started stalling (not very frequently, though). With SES light ON, there was no problem driving, but now I feel I really have to know what's going on before checking with another mechanic.

So, assuming P0171 problem do exist, how best Stalling issue can be resolved?

ANy kind of help is appreciated.

Thanks a lot.
