A working aftermarket Tach in a 2004 1.8

I found a way to wire an aftermarket tach in a 2004 1.8 Sentra. And its not thru the computer points. You will need an autometer tach adapter 9117. and if you have any questions on how to hook it up PM me or Post a reply. This is for the ppl who would like a tach, even if ppl say you dont need one.

I dont have an RPM gauge and I have a 5 speed. Why would I need a tach if its an auto??

I have the base model 1.8, no power anything and no tach. does that answer your question?

we live in the year of 2005/2006 and RPM guages aren't stock made with the car?

That makes no sense at all. What is your point in this statement???

I posted this thread originally for the ppl with QG's that dont have a tach in the dash want one. Not to argue with you about cars having stock guages or whatever your talking about.

base 1.8 sentras dont have a tach

1.8S<< does auto or 5 speed. Its always been like that. Same thing before they used numbers. XE's didnt have a tach GXE's do have one.

you'll eventually learn that the "name brand" aftermarket tachs are said to be more accurate than the dash tachs. For example on the spec v, the higher the revs the more thrown off the tach is.

example: My spec v tach shows my "fuel cut off" at 6700 but in reality the engines reving at 6250. Reasoning? theres a few... and probably more that i havent mentioned.

The sentras an econobox, you think they are going to make the worlds greatest in dash tach?

Nissans already got enough warranty claims on the QR25... they dont need any more with people revving the heck out of the motor.

i think you get the point....

yes....

Go under your dashboard on your passenger side behind your glove box. find the group of wires under there. Find a wire that is green with a white stripe that goes into the 12Volt source, its a brown cap. cut that wire. then bring the red and grey wire from the adapter and connect it to the side that goes to the engine. take the red wire from the adapter and connect it to the other side, the side that goes into the cap. then connect the rest of the wires like the diagram says. not sure about those because an shop did those for me. Then start your car, if it doesnt work PM me
