Depends on your experience with cars. 5-10whp gained from header. Car is gonna become louder. Oh yes it would be a HUGE change in performance and sound.
I wouldn't recommend modding a 1.8 sentra. If you want to mod, get a spec v. I just dont think mods on a 1.8 sentra are worth the power increase or the money, and you definently wont get your money back on them since it isnt a sports car to begin with. On the other hand, at least with the header you should get an increase in gas mileage which is always a plus. Just keep in mind if you get a header you WILL NEED an exhaust system too or your car will sound like absolute garbage, and i dont mean ricey, i mean like full blown broken lawnmower running over a dog bad. If you want a header, just go full I/H/E.

I dont think you realize the point to this thread. He is askin our opinion about the product that hotshot has produced. Not asking your opinion about how he should of gotten a spec....I think everyone with a 1.8 if they had a chance to get a spec...i think they would of. Please post things that would actually help other people. Not give them lectures about how they should of gotten or get a spec.

i think you should realize that you are here to help people and then realize that the 2002 spec is a POS that has had more problems with it than any other car and that little 1.8 will have fewer problems.
No one cares for your opinion and if you aren't going to help, please dont post. These forums are designed to give information about cars and their engines. Not everyone wants a spec.
edit: the header will prolly add upwards of 10whp as they are pretty close to the ga16de headers. but it will really sound bad if you dont do a cat back exhaust. its prolly better to do an intake then exhaust then header.

if you've got the cash for a header....go for it.....especially if its hotshots...i mean, your buying ( in my opinion ) the best there is to offer at this point for your car.
ANd like mentioned before, big difference in sound and performance.
Are you considering changing up the exhaust system at all to match up and/or complete with that header ? ( just out of curiosity ).
Otherwise, I say go for it.....cause I think you win either way...if you do NOT get it, then you keep the money and do otherstuff to the car ( if thats what you intend )....or you get it, and once you install, im sure you'd be happy.
Well thanks alot for being helpful guys, i appreciate it. Well it just happens to be that today, my friend bought me a KNN drop in filter, and i noticed such a big difference. Sound/power. For now, I'm thinking that i will purchase the header for the 1.8 at www.hotshot.com, and get the HKS sports cat back exhaust to go with it. Since I got a drop in KNN filter, I'm not getting a CAI until they make more for my car, and ill stick to what i got.
Is that a good combination?
KNN filter, Hotshot header, hks catback ?
And would the hotshot header fit my 06 sentra w/out any surprises?
if its coming from hotshot, they are pretty good on fitment....I doubt you may run into any "surprises" but with anything aftermarket, its expected...but then again HS is a quality company...so it should be ok.
But if your gonna swap/install a HS header, HKS exhaust and a better flowing air filter, such as K&N.....thats definately a good start......really is.
Let us know how it turns out....and if possible...do a clip or audio recording of your car before and after.....nice to have for your personal records....and all of us im sure would be pleased if you shared.
i dont know about the GA16 header from hotshot, but i hear nothing good from there SR20 headers (gen 5) , SSAC owns the Sr20 header. btw go with something that fits your buget. dont forget to post pics.
just wanted to correct myself.....so everyone knew....
when i said better flowing filter...I meant a clean one.....compared to a used one that is dirty...thats all......only cool thing about K&N is its suppose to flow better......but the main thing is that it's reusable, cause all you have to do is wash it out....which is nice to save money in the long run.
if i remember correctly, the HS header had some problems w/ 04-05, i dunno about 06....something about 04-05 not having an EGR tube and two 02 sensors....until hotshot makes a header for the 04-05 im gonna lay off of that for a while until im sure of my options....thats just my opinion
