Last Wednesday, my 2000 Sentra GXE started illuminating its check engine light without any change in the performance of the engine. At the time, the car had 58,189 miles on it and had been on the road exactly 62 months. Today, my dealer informed me that they need to replace the catalytic converter. The cost, $1,100!!!

Fortunately, someone else is picking up the bill (probably taxpayers or consumers).
QUESTIONS:
1) Have any of you late model Sentra owners burned out a cat in as few miles or as little time as I have?
2) When did the auto industry, and there outsource parts manufacturers, start making such crappy catalytic coverters?
