Question Oil Filter Part Numbers

Okay, this might take a minute, but here's the background on my question.

I decided that I would start risking my life by crawling under my car to change the oil filter on my 2000 Sentra GXE. I had purchased a filter (NISSAN Part # 15208-65F00) from the dealer many years ago, but always had the dealer change the oil until they recently started charging nearly $35 (in Northern VA) for a simple oil change. Upon looking at the filter that's currently in the car (installed by the dealer during its last oil change), the filter appears to be the same diameter, but about 50% longer. It also has a NISSAN part # of 15208-9E000. At the local WalMart, the recommended FRAM filter (PH6607) looks like the old tiny one I got from the dealer years ago.

MY QUESTION: Which filter should I be using? The larger 15208-9E000 or the smaller 15208-65F00?

Thanks for your help.

I do not use the original Nissan filter. If you look at purolator cross reference at Pepboys, you will notice the longer one could be used on both Sentra and Quest. I choose the longer one for larger filter surface in the filter.
