Im not sure if this is the right place for my car, but its a 2004 Nissan SEntra 1.8ltr

This morning I went to leave th house and the car wouldnt shift out of park. So I asked my girlfriend to check the brake lights and they werent lighting up.

This was a problem that nissan supposadely fixed before (ended up being a faulty brake light switch). That didnt keep the car from shifting out fo park though.

So to get it out of park I had to use a scew driver and the shift lock button.
It works fine, shifting normal untill I put it back in park. Then it does it all over again.

The brake lights still arent working and I still have to so the shift lock button.


I had problems with the dealership (newburgh, NY one) about with the brake light switch problem. I took it in for an oil change and it came out with 2 bent rims, bent control rod, and a brake light switch broken. This is a real shady place. They gave me a hard time about everything and anything. Especially when I proved them wrong abouy the physics of rims.

Im hoping someone here can tell me what the heck is going or might be going on so im not walking into the shady dealership blind.
