Stumbling Problem

I have a 2000 Nissan Sentra GXE 1.8L. My car recently started hesitating upon cool startup with an Engine Code P0171. I replaced the Spark plugs and all four O2 sensors (because the service manual suggests a bad O2 sensor in Bank #1 with this code) and had the code erased. However, the stumbling problem still exists and sometimes stalls until it warms up for about a minute or two. I remember getting a code P0420 prior to the P0171 but this went away. Is it possible that the converter is bad? Is there a way to check the converter before sinking more money into the car?

I had this same problem not too long ago. Chimmike suggested it might be an exhaust gasket before the catalytic converter. Seems like it wouldn't seal correctly until the gasket expanded from the heat.

Edit: I never saw the CEL during this, so our problems may be different, but it's a cheap thing to check. I thought I would throw that out there.
