DONT BUY ITTTTT GET THE SE-R OR the Spec-V for power and PPPLLLLLLLZ DONT BUY AUTOMATIC!!!!!!!! You will kick yourself in the nuts for a very long time....but if ur not lookin for performance then get it in automatic and it gives me 30.3 MPG so far

it really depends on what you want in a car... for instance, the car has about as much power as a honda civic, it gives a little push from 0-40, but after that its hurting. the automatic gets better gas miliage, but i recomend the manual. if you wanna upgrade your car with bolt ons, dont do it, its really not worth the small gains. if you have more cash, you could buy a turbo and become unique. but if you were to have that much cash, why not just purchase a spec v?

actually the manual will always get better gas mileage than the automatic.

if you are looking for an economical car, the 1.8 is certainly that.

Remember though, that manual takes some getting used to. Stalling can have serious effects on your car. Timing is everything.

I personally have an '02 Sentra XE auto. I live in Toronto, and it costs about 25 bucks for a full tank, that'd translate to a bit over 20 bucks American, depending on gas prices. I think auto's nice...sure it's less control, and more gas consumption...but it is marginal. It's not a huge difference, and auto suits city rush-hour driving.

But hey it's up to you.

Stalling has serious effects? Like what? Stalling shouldn't do anything but kill the engine.

Sorry, but I had to call you on this.

You can get better acceleration and hp by adding a few bolt-ons (CAI, Pulley, Header, Exhaust). This car is definetly easy on the wallet when it comes to gas. I average around 31-32 city and up to 38 highway with my 05 1.8 S automatic.

I just bought an 05 1.8s and i love it. Its not a speed demon, but its no slouch either. It all depends on what you consider fast. I came out of a miata, a B16 CRX and an RX-7, so to me this car is pretty slow. But if you are driving an 85 s10 4cyl then this will be a rocket.

But so far im getting like 33mpg hwy/cty, and its fun to drive. But if you want a more performance oriented car go for the se-r

cool, just go for a 1.8s not the base 1.8, its definately worth going for the S model. the base 1.8 doesnt have A/c or a stereo....

I just got a 1.8S a couple of weeks ago. It was a bit high milage for a new car (850), but it was it in the color and options I wanted.

I am getting lousy gas milage and the exhast smells like the car is running rich. I just filled it up for the second time, and I only averaged 22mpg on the last tank. I am trying to drive it very conservatively. I bought this car because it is cheap and was supposted to good milage.

Do you think there is hope? I expect the dealer to tell me there is nothing wrong with the car and blow me off. At least that is what they have done other times.

Thanks for any help,
Charlie

Either you do alot of city driving in bumper to bumper traffic or you must run the air on alot. Take it out on the highway for about 10 miles and see what the computer says you're averaging then.
