I have a 2004 Nissan Sentra. I bought it in July 2004 and 1 month after owning it, it started having problems with a vibration/rough idle. It does it in every gear except for park and neutral, it idles normally then. To sit in traffic or at a line in the bank drives you insane. It rattles and shakes the steering wheel, drinks sitting in holders...everything(including the kids in the back seat!!) It's almost a year later, mutliple trips to the dealership (with the normal excuses of "can't duplicate problem, or that's normal for that kind of car"), I've contacted Nissan consumer affairs because the dealership won't fix it. I did have 1 mechanic who admitted there was an excessive vibration and didn't know if he would be able to fix it. He called Nissan and got suggestions and things to try but nothing has worked. I think they are waiting on my warranty to run out which is approaching soon, so they don't have to fix it. There was supposedly a broke motor mount which they claim they fixed, worked on that a second time, adjusted and reset some things but when I asked for a list of what they had done, they didn't really want to give it to me. If someone could give me a few possible ideas of what I could tell them to make sure they check, that would be great. I'm a single female parent who feels taken advantage of. It's back to the dealership for at least the 5th time now.

Bump. I'm having the exact same problem. I just bought a 2004 Sentra off eBay with 63000. When I idle in drive it shakes, but not in neutral or park. I also get the same shakes going over 65, but not as bad.

When I picked up the car it needed an oil and air filter change really bad. Whoever changed the oil last also used a filter a little more than an inch shorter than the Fram one I got at Walmart, so that couldn't have been good. When I changed the oil and air filter that helped a lot, but I still feel the need to slide into neutral at stop lights. I'm thinking when I go through 2 tanks of gas that might help to flush out any old gas (it wasn't driven for a while). When I get time I'm going to do a transmission flush and change the spark plugs, hopefully that will help. If anyone else has any other suggestions please let me know.

My 1988 Nissan D21 pickup is doing the same thing, shaking like an earthquake at idle. I took it to a so-called Nissan specialist and they claimed to have replaced the fuel pressure regulator. But when I got in it to drive it home it was still idling just as rough and shaking like before. Looking under the hood I don't see a new fuel pressure regulator, so I think I got screwed, and of course the idling problem is still there. I'm searching for a solution, too.

sounds like a bad motor mount bushing to me. by b14 did the same type of thing. it was the motor mount.
