Nissan OEM parts in Canada? or costs of importing parts into Canada?

Hi I have a '98 Pathfinder SE and just recently I have been having receiving my SES light on, which I have cleared by disconnecting the battery only to have it reappear only a few days later, the code I pulled is P0440 which by generic lookup is evaporative emission control system malfunction, but as I look around on the discussion board I see it means for nissan "evap small leak". Anyways I dont think it is my gas cap I have removed and re-tightned it to no luck so I am assuming its in the purge control valve is it on the charcoal canister and since the consensus is to buy them both brand new rather then to replace either or I am just wondering where the best deal in Canada is to buy the parts or has anyone from Canada imported them from the states without problem? costs? customs? thanks for any help it is greatly appreciated.

Usually if you have a problem with the vent control valve on the canister you would also get a P0446 error code. The P0440 could be a leak anywhere in the EVAP system, might be as easy as a hose leak.

Suggested course of action

Yes with my code reader before the MIL light was on my I/M monitors were all functioning except my EV monitor light (it was flashing) but now that my SES light is on and I pulled code P0440 i noticed that my I/M status monitor Ev stays light which means it is functioning properly. Just wondering if someone can give me a recommended course of action now that I have pulled the code P0440 I am not mechanically inclined. Thanks for any help that can be provided,

Shaun

Your code is Evaporative Emission Control System Malfunction. I got it at www.autorepair.about.com I have no idea where that is in your pathfinder! I hope this helps you out!!

Code P0440

Yeah the Generic explanation for code P0440 is the evap emission system malfunction but for "nissan" but code definition from what I have read actually means Evap small leak. This week I am planning on trying to change out my gas cap I havent been able hear any pressure from it. I had let my truck idle for 5 min and when I shut it off and removed the gas cap after tightening properly I get a very small "swoosh" sound but it is almost none existent. I am wondering if this is what could be setting my P0440 code. I can clear my codes by disconnecting the battery for a few min but then after driving for a day or two the light will eventually come back on. I am only receiving the code P0440 and nothing else no pending DTC's and i appears all my I/M monitors are checking out ok and working. On a side note I have also noticed before that my I/M monitors were all checking out fine except for my EV(Evaporative System monitor) it was flashing meaning that that monitor was not ready. I am wondering after completeing a drive cycle and the EV monitor sets itself then it sets the MIL light with code P0440 this i dont know but anyhelp suggestions and what not are always accepted and appreciated thanks for all your help,

Shaun

Sounds like you are not getting enough pressure. Did you check your fuel pump

I dont think a faulty fuel pump would throw a P0440 I think it would be a bit more severe...and different code
