'01 Pathfinder A/C - Only works on high

I got in my '01 Pathfinder this morning and when I turned on the A/C the fan failed to blow air. It sounded like the compressor kicked on and the A/C light was on but no fan. When I put the fan on high(4) it works. Fan speeds 1 - 3 don't work, only 4!? Anyone got any ideas about this one...fuse? I have the base model so it's not the fancy A/C, just the 3 dials for fan speed, temp and mode(head, feet, defrost, etc). Thanks!

I think the fan speed regulator/resistor is bad. Usually it is located under the dash area of the passenger side.

The regulator controls the fan speed; when the fan is at its hightest speed, it will bypass the resistor (that's the reason why the highest fan speed still works). It may become very hot when your AC/fan is on, so becareful!

That sounds right Patrick39. I called the dealership after my post and they suspected the same. Sounds like a pretty easy thing to fix but since I have the extended warranty I think I'll let the dealership handle it. Thanks for the response!

one more note, make sure it is covered by extended warranty because sometimes the most important parts aren't covered (e.g. motors of power windows, sunroof).
