I have no cold air coming out of my Air Conditioner. I have no Idea how his happened, I thought it was becasue it's just an older model 1996. But I called a couple shops and asked if they would recharge the system for me, they said they are no longer able to becsue of laws. So I asked what the next step would be, and they said bring it in for a look which is $75.
They said they have to look for leaks or anything that could have caused it to lose it's cooling affect. Now I don't want to play devil's adocate, but I've looked over the engine and see no leaks anywhere. Can somebody point me in the right directiion? What should I look for? Should I replace the fuse? Any help would be appreciated.
Did this just start? does the comp kick in and out? with a 96 its conceivable it has lost enough charge to keep the comp out.Un forunatly a/c work is very expensive now and 134a which is the refrigerate your vehicle has is up to 15$ a can now.If you want to try yourself given its low on charge any auto parts have recharge kits and stop leak.If your blower is working its not the fuse.A few more details and i can help you more.

I noticed that when I hit the button to turn on the AC i'm not getting a surge of power. You know how you can tell when the AC kicks on you can feel the power go down just a bit. I'm not getting that. I looked for leaks, and nothing.
A freon leak is not always visible, they use leak detectors to find the leak. I would first turn the ac on, and see if the compressor clutch engages. You may really have no alternative other than seeking a professional to correctly diag and repair the ac system.

the surge is when the comp is kicking in which yours is not.A leak detector is one way to find the leak or pump it up with nitrogen with red dye.I actually had the pressure hose rupture on my 88 pathfinder. The dealer wanted 110 just for the hose i had it repaired at an a/c shop for 62 so a leak is most likely the problem.
