87 pathy speedo problems
a while back i posted about my 87 pathy having speedo problems, i tried to find that post but it is gone for some reason....my problem was that my speedo didn't work but the odometer did, well i finally tore into it and i found the problem yesterday....i took the cluster out and apart to look for problems, the gears that run the trips broke off and where laying in the bottom, the reason the speedo quit is because the little white plastic barrel thing thats inside the cluster end of the speedo cable was cracked and allowing the cable to turn inside of it, apparently i was wrong when i thought the odometer worked but the speedo didn't....i fixed that part and put it back together, but apparently i didn't get the speedo needle on right because it reads 10-15 mph over, it should read under because i have bigger than stock tires on it....i read somewhere on how to do it right but once again that post disappeared........does anyone know how to get the needle back on in the correct position??? im thinking i might just get another speedometer out of a cluster at salvage since i cant find the same cluster i have, mine has 2 fuel gauges, one for the whole tank and one for empty - 1/4 tank, every other one i found is for an auto tranny and has the gear selection lights instead.....if i can get the speedo more accurate i MIGHT actually get the cruise to work again....any help is appreciated...........thanx........
