Keyless Remote Program Probs.. Help Pls.

I have purchased a keyless remote from eBay and have followed the programming instructions with no luck. I can get the PF into program mode but when I press a button on the remote nothing happens. I have a 99 SE and the remote has the code KOBOTA3T and 1983 101 754 on the back. Does anyone else have a 99 with the remote that could confirm the codes? Also, any hints what I may be doing wrong? Trying to determine before contacting eBay seller.....

Do you want a pic of the vehicle? I would love a working remote but would rather not take a chance on an eBay one until I know it will work. What part of the VIN would you need?
