Lightbulb Any comments?

Just reading on another forum and found that Tuloene added to the fuel in a 3oz. to 10 gal. ratio really does wonders for performance. Some discussion on what it would do to hoses and fuel tank is inconclusive. One person said he used it in his dirt racing bike and it boosted performance quite a bit. There was also discussion on using Acetone the same way but it evaporates too rapidly and is "REALLY CAUSTIC". Anyone heard of this? It sounds very interesting if it works due to low cost of Toluene per gallon.

Toluene raises the octane rating of gasoline. The only way this will increase performance is to allow more advanced ignition timing without detonation.

The MSDS data on toluene states:

"Toxic by inhalation, ingestion or by absorption through skin. Serious irritant. Experimental teratogen."

Acetone lowers the octane rating of gasoline and will hurt performance. It will also be hard on seals and rubber parts.

Problem is, buying large amounts of toluene would almost surely raise flags as to what you're using it for, because it's also used in the manufacture of methamphetamine, amongst other things.

That and it won't do anything for a stock engine, but for turbocharged/supercharged apps, it'd be a workable additive.
