Q's on TPMS

Hi'
I have an 05 pathfinder LE and i just purchase an aftermarket rims/tires.My question is, if i don't transfer the tire pressure monitor on my new rims is it gonna damage something?Do i really need to?or just left it on the factory wheels cause i'll be switching back to oem wheels when winter comes.Any inputs would be greatly appreciated.Thanx.
