95 Pathfinder Vehicle Speed Sensor

Just checked my codes on 95 Pathfinder and I have a code 14 Vehicle Speed Sensor. Should I just check for a loose wire or would it be safe to assume that I need a new sensor cable? It's an automatic.

The sensor unscrews from the transmission. There's no cable. Check for loose or broken wiring first, then replace the sensor if nothing else is wrong.

Ok, I checked for broken wires and found none and now I have just installed the speed sensor and I still have the same problem. The speedometer won't work unless the vehicle is going 25 mph and this doesn't hold true all the time now. The check engine light still comes on and it won't upshift at all. Any new suggestions?

Try resetting the ECU. Unplug all the fusible links at the battery or pull the "ECCS" fuse in your fuse panel, then put it back in after about 30 seconds.
