Pathfinder - How to properly disable traction control and increase power output

Hi there

I have an American Spec 2005 (new shape) Pathfinder SE. I enjoy driving in the desert (in the UAE) but find that the traction control remains active (or seems to) even when I have turned it off. In addition, it can sometimes feel weak and will refuse to move when it seems to me that it should be able so to do. Does anyone have any tips on how to disable the safety power-management electronic trickery and to increase the power output on this car?

Many thanks

Soz
