03 pathfinder engine noise
well, baught this 03 pathfinder chilkoot with only 40k miles on it. Just got wheel bearings replaced and while it was up on the hoist i did a quick oil change. Now, im pretty sure i hear a ticking sound from the engine under load. I used 5w30 penzoil platinum, 5 litres and a FRAM oil filter. seems to get quiet after it fully warms up. Naturally, upon my research i found the butterfly valve/screw issue but i really wont have money to fix this for a while. First question is what is causing this engine tick, its not loud, varies with RPM. My next question is, despite the doom and gloom prediction of power valve failures, just how common is this problem? i've talked to a few people who have had their 01-04 pathfinders since new with over 150k miles and no engine failure. And upon further searching, it seems most people open their engines only to find all the screws in-tact and tight. Should I reallyworry about this? or just put it on the 'to do' list.
