95 pathfinder wont start

My pathfinder won't start when I turn the key it just clicks. The starter is less than a year old the battery is brand new. I can get it to start with a boost the other car doesn't need to be running and I just cleaned the battery clamps I'm out of ideas

Remove the steering column cover. See the wafer on the rear side of the ignition key switch that has a number of wires coming off it. Try pushing in on that wafer while turning the key. These are known to loosen and not make good electrical contact.

Just because parts are new or recent doesn't necessarily mean that they are good. Stick with the basics when diagnosing. Have the battery load tested. Have a draw test perormed. Make sure power exists at the starter solenoid signal wire when the key is turned to "start." Make sure there isn't excessive resistance through both battery cables.

Check also for corrosion on the ground wire (follow the negative battery cable to where it terminates on the chassis & engine block). Also check that the nut securing the positive battery cable to the starter solenoid is not corroded or loose. If none of the solutions mentioned above help, take a look at the alarm control module (especially if you have an aftermarket alarm). If your started solenoid is clicking it is ussually because of a voltage drop (as the tips mention above should address) or because an alarm lock-out relay is cutting the ignition circuit.

If you can get it to start every time with a boost from another car, then your battery is suspect. Either the battery is no good, not being charged by the alternator or there is excessive oxidation on the battery terminals.
