Serpentine Belt

How hard is it to change one in an 03 LE? Is it more worthwhile to have a mechanic do it?

I changed the 2 s-belts and the v-belt in my 98 without much difficulty. It looked a lot more difficult from the outside than it actually ended up being. Usually the Haynes manual gives a decent description of how much work is required. All depends on how handy you are with tools as well. For what the shop was going to charge me for 3 belts though, it was well worth my time to do it myself, I saved about 200$ in labour, took me maybe an hour.

It not hard, Takes me about 15 minutes but I have the repetative skill. Shouldn't take you more than 30 minutes to do.

It's a fairly easy task and if you have a bit to fit in the tension arm, so you can release it. I bought a 1/2 extension and filed it down to fit. So I made my own Nissan tool. Sometimes the tension arm isn't too strong and you can just push it down with your hand to change the belt.
