Idler Pulley 2003 pathfinder

Hello- new to the forum, but would great appreciate any feedback/help I can get here. I have been getting a slight squealing noise in the front of the engine......worse are it is colder now. A friend replaced the idler pulley yesterday, after inspecting it, it seemed to be the issue ( spinning easily, hearing noise as you spun it) Anyway, this morning (colder temps) is is sqealing again possibly worse. Does it take some time for the belt to adjust to the new idler? The new idler (from the dealer) has a think black paint on it that was not on the old Idler. I am thinking of driving it and then adjusting the tensior......

FYI- belt are all in very good shape.

Any suggestions or thoughts?

Thanks- John

Use a long pry bar or screw driver and with it running CAREFULLY stick it on what you suspect is squeling and listen at the handle. When you find the culprit you will know.
