Blinker comes on solid when brakes applied

Ok where do I start

When I apply my brakes, the right blinker will come on and stay illuminated

When the right blinker is activated, it will blink until (of course) the brakes are applied... where it will then stay on solid as described above.

The left blinker works fine when the brakes are applied... where when the brakes are applied the right blinker will still come on solid again.

**Things checked and replaced**
1. Moisture got into the passenger/right headlight and cause halogen bulb to explode and all kinds of yellowing rust like stuff in assembly now. Replaced headlight bulb and although discolored, works as it should. Also noticed piece inside assembly just below the bulb is broken... not sure what it is though? I plan on replacing the assembly at some point in the future.

2. Noticed headlight corner/side markers were both out as well, I replaced them and they work fine (they do not blink when blinkers activated... not sure if they should though?)

3. Tow hitch installed by U-Haul recently (5 months ago)... works and continues to work fine... checked connections and they are all good (appear to be good and cleanly spliced w/ out touching other wires)

4. Replaced both rear blinker bulbs

5. Checked all the grounds I could find and they are all ok, not all that corroded for the age.

6. Checked brake, headlight, blinker fuses, all are in working order

Any ideas anyone!?? I'm stumped and this is annoying the liveing crap out of me!!!
Thanks

Anyone have any ideas where I can look to maybe find a short? The wires in and around the tailight assembly do not appear to be corroded and are in good condition...

Where might the brake light make contact w/ the turn signal bulb to cause it to be activated front & rear w/ the application of the brake??? I'm stumped....

Also, need directions to replace the headlight hello project pathfinder.

Just a thought, are you sue u-haul didn't make a mistake and put the wrong wires together? Just a though.
Other than that, the problem is isolated to one light, so there can't be too much to check there, unless some type of computer that controls the lights is freaking out, but even then I think it would do front and rear

Thanks for the response...

Couple of things... BOTH front & rear blinkers are illuminated when the brakes are applied... where might I find a "computer" that controls this?

The UHAUL hitch had been installed without any problems for about 5+ months prior to this problem occuring... I looked over the wiring done by UHAUL and its actually pretty good... nothing is exposed or touching. Everything is nicely put together. Nothing appears corroded either...

I'm trying to find a wiring diagram so that I can see where and how to trace down this problem... I'm having trouble doing so.

I sugest posting what year pathfinder you have.

I don't know too much about the newer pathfinders, I onlyhave the haynes book that goes up to 95/96.

I might be able to find a diagram online, not sure though, but someone on here probably can help you with that also.

Pathfinder Brake Light Problem

Did you find a fix for this? I have same issue where left turn signal comes on when brakes applied. Otherwise turn signal works. I have 2001 Pathfinder SE.

similar incident happend to my brothers minivan.. we disconnected all the tow-hitch wiring, the lights worked fine.. one of the tow-hitch wiring (by U-haul) was grounding out on the body pannel.. just my 2 cents....

no I have not figured out a solution to this. I replaced all the blinker and brake light bulbs. Checked all the Uhaul connections........ everything seemed solid.

Where exactly should the Trailor hitch be grounded to? if not the body panel? what does it matter?

well, in my brother's case, the U-haul wiring lost some of the insulation, probably from rubbing against the body pannel.. I didnt really figure out how the short was happening to cause the bizzare behaviour of the rear lights.. but as soon as we disconnected all the hitch wires, the lights started working.. we left the hitch wiring off for now..

did u haul use a converter ?
the 4 pin connector uses one wire for the brakes and turn filament on the trailer, so if they installed one it may have gone bad, or they didnt and they connected the two wires together.
