95 pathfinder steering shake

I have a 95 Pathfinder XE. The vehicle recently developed a shake in the steering that only shows up when I get above 45 mph. Hitting a bump will almost gurantee that the shaking begins and if the road is smooth I may not notice the shake at all. When it happens, the shudder gets bad enough that I worry I'm going to lose control. If I step on the brakes the shake goes away; turning the wheel doesn't seem to have an effect. I took it to a shop and they checked out the front end (ball joints, tie rods, etc) and everything was tight. They topped off my tire pressure and told me that when they test drove it, it seemed fine... They apparently didn't get it going fast enough because the problem is as bad as before. Any ideas?

Same thing with my 95'. It's really noticeable at 50 MPH, goes away above that. I've checked everything..Though I have made an interesting discovery. Excessive positive or negative caster will cause wheel shimmy and this is determined by the strut rod bushings on our Pathy's..I'm replacing those next. Thanks
