2005 Head Gasket problem?

I've got an 05 Pathy that seems to lose a little antifreeze now and then with no signs of drippage anywhere. I've never had a problem with evaporation adn I think I'm smelling it out the exhaust. It has 49500 miles. Any other head gasket problems out there? Has this been an issue? Is it covered by the 60,000 powertrain warranty? Let me know guys. Thanks, Brandon

I THINK someone had a coolant issue asking around here also. It's been maybe a few months now? Either do a search on this forum or hope that person will respond.

Get an oil analysis done pronto to check for glycol and water in your oil. This will tell you a lot. I like Blackstone Labs...they'll send you a free sample bottle and shipping container, and the analysis is $30 (with TBN).

I found that the coolant lines to the rear heater core are leaking slightly and only under pressure. They have some junk ass fittings not covered under warranty, so I'll have to pay $450 every 3 years so it seems to have them replaced if that's all the longer they'll last. It drips on the exhaust which is why it was smelling like antifreeze coming from the exhaust. I'm gonna get with Nissan and find out more on this. The thing is like new still. Garage kept, clean, not abused. I'm not happy if I have to pay for it. I'll definitely use an aftermarket part to replace it with.

Someone here had the same problem while back. He mentioned Nissan had to remove the entire body to properly replace the line with rubber hoses.

How much mileage on your Pathfinder?

50,000... out of warranty but still way too young for something like that in my opinion.

starting To Worry

Guys I just bought my 2004 Pathfinder LE with 39K miles on it last week. Since that time I have popped a P1130 fault and now after finding this forum I am starting to worry. I am reading about antifreeze leaks, power valve screws that come loose and get sucked into the engine etc. These all turn into high dollar repairs. What ever happened to the old good NISSAN engineering and quality. My last car a cheap to run KIA Sportage 4X4 lasted over 150K miles with very little maintenance. I went ahead and treated myself with a Pathfinder LE and now I am wondering if that was a mistake. What is happening?????
