Smile Saying Hello, & have a question..

Hi,

A few days ago,
I purchased a 1994 Pathfinder XE 2wd with 118,000 in what bluebooks call "good" condition for $1,800
wich looks like i got it for basicly half of what it is worth...it had been well taken care of...

Ive never owned a nissan product, but read up on this gen. of pathfinder problem areas, like frame rot.rust & trans, & manifold bolts & cracks, and check those pretty well before purchase...

I got it to the mechanic today (havent been in the area long so had to pick & chose a new one) They inspected it and varified that thier was no problems besides the belt noise wich i allready knew about and was also getting check out that 2 of the 3 belts needed replacing..
but thats all... and since they were goign to have to take the others out anyway they said they replace all three & with the inspection $185.00...
i dont know if thats a good price or not, but by the look of the tight space & oddness of the engine (im use to 4cyl engines) maybe this time its worth it....a & if not i gave the go ahead allready anyway....

Cosmeticlly its great except the piece that kinda buldges down where the dome light is from passengers end to to drivers side end is missing all the material & is just a off white plastic color with old cruddy adheisve, people i bought it from says it was caused from heat & the adhesive just let go, as it is a former fla car allthough garaged most its life, i still can see how hot it could get in a non climate control area...

I guess my question would be, is that a common interior problem or is there a good chance i could go to the bone yard & find one with the matrieal still well attached?

Thanks

Wreckers always ask for an arm for used parts. I'd give a car upholstery shop a call and ask for an estimate.

Since you have over 100,000 miles on the engine, have they inspected the timing belt? Regardless, you should change it if it hasn't been changed yet. Pretty sure the stock belt would say "genuine Nissan" or something along that line. If the belt snaps, you'll have to find someone to replace some valves and possibly other components.

I've never seen the headliner material separate from the base at the junkyard. Heh. Must be the wonderful Oregon weather.
