Hi,
In my 98 Pathfinder I'm currently using Goodyear's Wrangler 31x10.5R15 RTS tires, they had behaved fine off-road but are very noise while driving on highway. Can somebody here suggest which other tires can I use.
What do you need from them? If your are looking for a pretty good all around tire, the BFG All Terrains would be the way to go, for more highway use i like Michelin LTX M/S, and there are many in between, do some research on tirerack.
My experience from my previous SUV was amazing with the Michelin LTX M/S's. Quiet, long life, great handling in the rain, on dry pavement (i couldnt even get them to squeel), and especially on snow. I know they dont come in the metric size for the SE wheels, but you can get them in 30x9.5, which is almost identical to the metric size. Costco carries them and would be your cheapest bet since they generally have the cheapest price per tire, and that price includes disposal, mounting, and balancing. Good luck with your decision.
I have 31x10.5 Cooper Discoverer All Terrains, I love them, they have a bit of a hum on the road but nothing major, I love them off-road. I also know a few guys that run the BF Goodrich All terrains, they are a very good tire as well. The tires you have are radials so im not sure why they are so loud, make sure it is the tires that are humming and not possibly a wheel bearing. Good luck.
I had Mastercraft Courser HTR's that were rated for 60K. I never really liked them and they crapped out well before 50K so the dealer gave me a very good price on Goodyear Fontera Triple Tread that are pretty amazing. This winter we've seen it all: heavy wet slushy snow, deep powder, rain and black ice and these tires have performed very well. Very steady and if they do break out, there's enough warning to correct.
