04 Pathfinder Low Beam Problems

I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I have a 2004 Pathfinder (Chinook) in Canada, so it has daytime running lights. The DRLs work fine, and the low beam on the driver side works fine, but not on the other side. Hi-Beam works on both as well. I replaced the relay for that side, and no change. Blubs are new. The low beam will sometimes go on and sometimes wont. I have no idea what the problem is. Any thoughts?

Another question I had is about using a K&N intake and filter. Is it worth it?

Thanks for the help!

Did you check all connections leading to the bulb? A loose connection in any of the wires could cause it. Do they go on and off over bumps?

K&N is good as a drop in filter...i think most would agree...If you are looking for performance though, get an SRI from a reputable brand, that will give you a more aggressive sound during hard throttle and a little more performance.

I checked all the connections, and it doesn't make a difference same with going over bumps or not. It is just the passenger side Low beam that doesn't work, nothing else. If I turn on the lights and it goes on, they stay on, but if I turn on the lights and it doesn't turn on, it wont go on. It's basically luck of the draw every time I turn the low beams on.

The headlamp problem could be the lighting switch, the DRL control unit, a circuit problem between the lighting switch and the DRL control unit, or a circuit problem between the DRL control unit and the headlamp bulb. This would be a lot easier to diagnose with access to a Consult II scantool, unfortunately. Any chance you are still within your 3 year/36000 mile warranty?

That's the problem! Thank you! Swapped it out, cost me 100 bucks, and it works!
