Huge Gamble or Huge Deal ??

So one of my friends has this 95 Nissan pathfinder for sale..Like every other 92-95 PF, It has rear frame rot.. I'm a welder so he came to me and said..You should be able to fix this at work and make out like a bandit..$400 takes it home.
Im not real sure if this is an awesome deal or a huge gamble on my part and may end up eating the $400..Anybody a frame expert or some kind of knowledge on this situation ?

- 4WD works fine
- engine runs strong
- needs some new fuel lines in the rear also
- 133 K

My 95' was worse man. Seriously. Had one of the best welders in my region, been welding since the early 70's repair mine. He cut out templates for each rear frame rail. I'll buy it for that..LOL..I'd repair it, do a complete timing job, then drive it for a while.! Wish you the best.!.--Heath J. Keathley

The timing belt is a maintenance thing and should be changed at 165,000km or 102,000+ miles.

Well, pathfinders seem to be pretty indestructible as long as you do regular maintenance (what vehicle is great without maintenance). That rust should be easy for a welder to take care of. Ask your friend if the timing belt was done, even if it wasnt you still got a steal. I would just drain and replace all fluids and do the t-belt if they hadnt.
