Pathfinder Advice and questions.

Hi,

I'm new to the forum. I wanted to get some input on 2004 Nissan Pathfinders. What do you like about it? Dislikes? What type of problems or repairs have you done? The cost of the repairs. Also, what are the difference between a 2003 and 2004 Pathfinder. Models SE, LE and LE Platinum. What type of gas does it need? Super Premium?

The reason I ask is I have been debating about buying one. I currently have a 2000 Maxima that I like but it has around 105,000 mile on it. I bought it brand new back in 2000 and have taken care of the car but the car has been a money pit through the years such ignition coils, sensors and crank shaft pulley has been replaced along with your basics oil and filter, tune-ups, muffler, brakes and rotors. Any information you have would be helpful.

Thank you for your time

01-04. Same engine, same body style basically.
Has same VQ engine as your maxima, just retuned for truck use.
SE and LE just have different options-- cloth vs leather, wood accents, all the luxo stuff.

Same issues-- igniton coils, sensors. Sensitive to tire balance-- read up on vibrations. Rear bushings go out. Step rails rot out after 5-6 years.
Needs 91 octane.

I have an 01 SE with 92K. 5 speed. I've replaced 2 igntion coils at $250 a pop, a few sensors around $150 each time, done a tune-up $300, oil changes $30. New tires, some other extras.

I like it, it's always been my dream car. I hated the cost of diagnosing repairs, but now that I drive it little, it's cheap to run. Gas prices were killing me so I bought a daily driver and just drive my PF a few times a month.
