Stuck Fuel Gauge

I have a 2005 Pathfinder that was purchased used a year ago. I just recently have had a concern that when the fuel runs low and I fill it up, the gauge continues to show low until after an extended period of time. Then it's okay. This has occurred the last three fill ups. Any advice?

I think something is gummed up in your fuel tank. After the fuel's been sloshed around, it'd loosen the foat?! up a bit and starts working properly. Eventually, it'll stay gummed up and won't move anymore. That's my .02 cents worth.

You mean the fuel gauge is sposed to work? Dunno when the last time mine moved was, at least 8 years ago...... Thankfully, it has a trip odometer and low fuel warning light that both still work.

The gas gauge in our '05 is pretty crappy too. It will show half a tank after 200 miles then drop like a hammer the next 50. It seems like they messed up the float arm when they installed it. I've heard a few complaints about the gas gauge on the late model Pathy's.
